Breakaway Active was established by Kevin Bury in 2004, to offer supported holidays to young (and young at heart) adults with a learning disability. Kevin began his career some 40 plus years ago in a day centre for people with a learning disability.

He has always had a strong interest in sport, including substantial involvement in the Mini-Olympics project nationwide. He went on to manage a variety of day centres, and residential establishments, concluding his Local Government career as a Community Support Manager. Needless to say he brings with him a wealth of knowledge and qualifications in his field.

Since the outset, Kevin has been able to realise his dreams in offering disabled people holidays which truly reflect the extent of their abilities and aspirations. His holidays are ideal for customers aged between about 17 and 45 who are looking for a lively, activity-based holiday (although it has to be said nobody would ever be excluded on the basis of age only!). All Active holidays are suitable for holiday-makers who can join in with the listed sports and activities.

Bury Active (formerly Breakaway Active) holidays are designed to offer the holiday-maker a fun packed and safe holiday experience. Kevin chooses the couriers for their individual skills and experience, based on the group who have booked that particular holiday. They will offer you the support you need to have a great time without compromising your independence. Whilst he accompanies most of the holidays himself, there will be certain weeks when another member of the Active team will lead the holiday. He looks forward to welcoming 'old’ and 'new’ faces again this coming year...
